Beer Pairing Dinner at The Globe

On May 7, we had a new experience of pairing food with beer based on the growing popularity of craft beers. The Beertopia festival had just been held in West Kowloon in April to big crowds and rave reviews. Our dinner was held at The Globe Pub with a specially created 4-course menu paired with 6 beers. The evening was a great introduction to different beers of the world as we sampled suds from Australia, Scotland, Italy, New Zealand, USA and Norway. We were guided through each beer by master publican Toby Cooper who described the different flavours and complementary and contrasting ways they paired with the food. The main course of lamb was served in 3 ways which matched perfectly with the strong, spicy flavours of the beers hailing from New Zealand, Italy and USA.

The dinner was attended by 30 people although our level of joviality was much higher than these numbers!
