This summer, Slow Food Hong Kong arranged for a special afternoon at Africa Coffee & Tea (ACT) – a beautiful cafe tucked away in Wong Chuk Hang.
Charlene Hua, founder and director of ACT, welcomed us with a big smile and was full of energy sharing her story, her passion and her mission. A corporate turned entrepreneur who fell in love with Angola during one of her travels. As she started visiting more African countries, the beauty, the people, the culture made a lasting impact on her. She decided to do something to promote and acknowledge the framers of Africa and their quality coffee. ACT endeavors to source the most sustainable and directly traded products uplifting the women and their families.
ACT serves tasty African nibbles that pair well with the coffees and teas on offer. The colorful decor with exotic African art and crafts is a visual treat. The VIP room would be a great place to get together with your friends. A waft of fresh coffee brew, impressive decor of the VIP room and the picturesque view outside are a treat.
During the event, Slow Food attendees learned about single origin coffee and the different coffee brewing methods. Then moved on to coffee tasting which was challenging on the taste buds but a fun experience.
