The November Slow Food Hong Kong Happy Hour get-together on Monday, 7 November 2022, was small, intimate, and very convivial event! It was organised by Walter Kern at the lovely Kee Wah Tearoom in Wan Chai, in the beautiful Grade III Historic Building, with Chef Ringo Tao in attendance.
Some new, very interesting members came along – all motivated by a passionate interest in food: Colin, Millie and King. Welcome to Colin, Millie and King – we hope to see you all at more events, soon. Attending from SFHK were Adele Wong, Walter Kern and me.
Chef Ringo fed us with his very special, extremely traditional, and utterly unique, delicious pastries and snacks – the quality and generosity of which you won’t find anywhere else; and Walter kindly provided two exquisite wines from Northern Italy. The white was from Piemonte, an Anterisio 2019. Anterisio makes for a very fresh, delicate, and fragrant aperitif wine. This grape is grown only in the Piemonte region of Italy and is a rare find in Hong Kong. The second wine was a delicious Chianti Classico – Fontodi 2019, which opened up very quickly to be beautifully aromatic, revealing red berries and light spices, with a smooth finish. Walter, thank you for two wonderful, well chosen wines!
We look forward to running monthly SFHK Happy Hours on a regular basis. The focus will always be one or two hours of conviviality – good, shared conversation and laughter – with some well chosen snacks and nibbles. We hope you will join us soon for the next one. If you have an idea for a good location for a Happy Hour event, please let us know!
